James Pattersonās Alex Cross book series is heading to the screen once again, and hereās the trailer for Cross.
Thus far, James Pattersonās Alex Cross action thriller novels have only been seen on the big screen. Morgan Freeman first took on the role of the detective for 1997ās Kiss the Girls, directed by Gary Fleder, and 2001ās Along Came A Spider, directed by Lee Tamahori. Both were well received and feature strong casts, including Ashley Judd, Carey Elwes and Michael Wincott.
A reboot landed in 2012, directed by Rob Cohen and starring Tyler Perry. However, Alex Cross was a critical and commercial failure, and plans for a sequel were dropped.
That brings us to Cross, a television series coming to Amazon Prime Video which follows Reacher's template of using the protagonistās surname as the title.
The synopsis reads as follows:
Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge) is a detective and forensic psychologist, uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims, in order to identify—and ultimately capture—the murderers. Cross is brilliant, flawed, and full of contradictions. A doting father and family man, Cross is single-minded to the point of obsession when he hunts killers. He is desperate for love, but his wife’s murder has left him too damaged to receive it.
The ensemble cast also includes Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Eloise Mumford, Ryan Eggold, Mercedes de la Zerda and Jennifer Wigmore as Chief Anderson.
Ben Watkins serves as showrunner and lead writer, with episodes directed by Craig Siebels and Nzingha Stewart.
All eight episodes of Cross will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from the 14th November. You can currently watch Kiss The Girls on Netflix and Along Came A Spider on Paramount+.
