The animated science-fiction adventure Strange World is coming to cinemas in November – and you can get a sneak peek here.
Disney has released the trailer for Strange World, its upcoming animated science fiction romp, and the preview has more than a whiff of Jules Verne about it. Due to release theatrically in November, the feature film ‘introduces a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an uncharted, treacherous land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog, and a slew of ravenous creatures.’
Unlike some of the studio’s other animated releases of late, this one is getting an exclusive theatrical release before it lands on Disney+. That’s with the exception of France, where the film is reportedly going to be skipping cinemas due to the country’s strict rules on release windows. Much like Lightyear, the film also features a gay character and as such, may not be released in the same territories that refused to release the Toy Story spin-off.
You’ll be able to catch the film when it premieres in November, with a voice cast that includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Dennis Quaid, Jaboukie Young-White, Gabrielle Union, and Lucy Liu. With Dennis Quaid once again playing a marooned space explorer character, we’re going to hope for at least one in-joke or reference to 1985’s Enemy Mine. Fingers crossed. You can catch the trailer below.
