The 2025 BAFTA Film Awards nominations are in ā hereās a look at the snubs and the snub-ies.
With A Real Pain star Will Sharpe and last yearās Rising Star Award winner Mia McKenna Bruce taking on hosting duties, the results are in for the films BAFTAās 8,100 film awards voters consider the best of 2024.
Itās a lovely afternoon for Conclave and Emilia Pérez, leading the awards with 12 and 11 nominations respectively, and a slightly less lovely afternoon for Daniel Craig (who missed out on a Best Actor nod for Queer) and Denzel Washington, who holds onto his title as a no-time BAFTA-nominee after Gladiator II failed to register with voters.
Among the biggest surprises is the addition of Hugh Grant in the Best Actor category for his creepy-man role in Heretic ā together with the three nominations (Director, Original Screenplay and Best Actress for Demi Moore) for Coralie Fargeatās The Substance, 2025 is already showing the horror genre much more love than previous years. Tragically, no nods for Nosferatu, though (it did come out in the UK on January 1st but, as this weekās box office debut A Complete Unknown proves, this was by no means a bar to entry. Perhaps Universal didnāt get the DVDs dusted off in time).
Kneecap's presence in the Original Screenplay and Outstanding British Film categories, meanwhile, gives the Irish-language hip-hop biopic some well-deserved love in two races the Oscars might well overlook. High fives all round for that one, we reckon.
