Marvel enjoyed its latest big box office weekend with its Doctor Strange sequel – and there’s little competition in the next few weeks too.

Normality seems to have resumed in cinemas, at least when it comes to the box office numbers of Marvel features. Notwithstanding the response to it from critics and audiences thus far seems to have been relatively cool, Marvel’s latest – Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness – enjoyed a stellar weekend at the global box office. It bodes well for the upcoming summer blockbuster season.

In the US, the film opened with $185m opening weekend, ahead of expectations. Furthermore, another $265m was hauled in from outside the US, and the film’s box office take stands at $450m globally, less than a week into its release.

There was no new competition of any size for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness for Marvel’s latest to do battle with, and it had a clear run at the box office charts. It very much took it.

In fact, things are relatively quiet for a few weeks yet, at least until Top Gun: Maverick finally pops up at the end of the month. Until then, expect Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness to keep working its box office magic…
