Eli Roth is directing a feature length version of his Grindhouse trailer Thanksgiving, here are the first details.
Grindhouse, the B-Movie double feature of Robert Rodrigiez’s Planet Terror and Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof, was released 16 years ago, and it has proved profitable, not only in terms of financial return, but in the number of projects that came out of the fake trailers attached to the film.
Robert Rodriguez turned Danny Trejo into the action superstar he deserved to be in 2010’s Machete, itself followed in 2013 by Machete Kills. We’re still waiting for the teased third film in the franchise Machete Kills Again…In Space! Jason Eisner made a full length version of his trailer Hobo With A Shotgun in 2011.
Now, Eli Roth is turning his trailer for Thanksgiving into a full length feature. Plot details are thin on the ground, but based on the original trailer, the story revolves around a man determined to make a Thanksgiving carving board out of the town’s inhabitants.
Patrick Dempsey has been cast as a Sheriff. Roth will write and direct.
We’ll keep you updated as we hear more…
