The upcoming The Banshees Of Inisherin will reunite Martin McDonagh with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, stars of the much-loved In Bruges.
Searchlight Picture has premiered the first trailer from Martin McDonagh’s new film, The Banshees Of Inisherin. If you’re a fan of McDonagh’s 2008 black comedy In Bruges, then you’ll be pleased to hear that this project reunites McDonagh with the two stars of that movie, Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson.
The plot for The Banshees Of Inisherin is as follows: ‘Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, the story follows lifelong friends – the chipper Padraic (Colin Farrell) and the curmudgeonly Colm (Brendan Gleeson), who find themselves at an impasse when Colm unexpectedly puts an abrupt end to their friendship. A stunned Padraic, aided by his sister Siobhan (Kerry Condon) and troubled young islander Dominic (Barry Keoghan), endeavours to repair the relationship, refusing to take no for an answer.’
As is the case with many of McDonagh’s films, ‘events swiftly escalate, with shocking consequences’.
McDonagh hasn’t released a film since 2017’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and there’ll be plenty of people looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us next. The film premieres at the Venice Film Festival next month and will land in Cinemas in late October. In the meantime, you can catch that trailer below.
