Disney’s Frozen 3 has landed a new release date which is a little later than expected… More on the sequelās delay below.
Earlier this year, Disney announced the studio would be “leaning more” into sequels as it gave an update on its upcoming releases. We can expect sequels to The Incredibles, Zootopia, Moana and Toy Story to appear in cinemas in the next few years.
Frozen 3 was due to appear in cinemas in 2026, but the Mouse House has been forced to delay it by a year. Disney has given Frozen a new release date and we can now expect the animated sequel to hit US cinemas on the 24th November 2027, as reported by Variety. We’d expect the UK release to fall around the same time.
Frozen 4 is also already in the works. Neither film has a director officially attached, but Disney CEO Bob Iger did say that Jennifer Lee, who co-directed both previous Frozen films with Chris Buck and acts as Disney’s chief creative officer, is “hard at work with her team” on the two upcoming sequels.
Frozen has been one of Disney’s most profitable franchises. Pixar’s Inside Out 2 only recently overtook Frozen II as the highest-grossing animated film of all time. Meanwhile, we’re still trying to get Let It Go out of our brains.
Disney’s D23 expo also brought us more details on the upcoming Toy Story 5. The film will find Woody, Buzz, Jess and the rest of Bonnie’s toys dealing with the rise of technology. The first image from the film, which is coming to cinemas in 2025, shows the toys observing Bonnie on her tablet under a blanket.
More on Frozen 3 as we hear it.
