The upcoming Old Hollywood epic Babylon – from the director of Whiplash and La La Land – now has a trailer.
Paramount has revealed the new trailer for Damian Chazelle’s upcoming Babylon, and whilst the trademark Chazelle sights, sounds and spectacle are all firmly in place, this glimpse of the inbound film unveils a little more of its glitzy and expansive story.
The film is said to be ‘a tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, tracing the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in 1920s Hollywood as the industry undergoes a treacherous transition between silent and ‘talkie’ films.’
It certainly isn’t lacking in star power either, boasting a cast is stacked with talent including Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie Diego Calva, Olivia Wilde, Samara Weaving, Li Jun Li, Jean Smart and Tobey Maguire.
Whilst it’s far too early too tell yet, we hope this one can live up to its billing and produce a show-stopping cinematic opening to 2023, although early reviews have suggested that the film may not be greeted with the unflinching adulation that has greeted some of Damian Chazelle’s past projects.
It seems like a story that could be headed in an interesting direction, but until the film is unleashed upon the world you’ll have to be satisfied with the new trailer which you can find below. Babylon releases in the UK on 20th January 2023.
