The story of the classic James Bond videogame GoldenEye is being told in the film GoldenEra – and here’s the trailer.

As much as the GoldenEye movie was an important turning point in the history of the James Bond movie franchise, so the tie-in videogame was a major moment in the gaming world. Developed by Rare and released on the Nintendo 64 console, it’s to this day regarded as one of the best movie tie-in games of all time.

The story of the game is now being told in a new documentary feature film, and said film is being released in a week or two.

It goes by the name of GoldenEra, and it covers the making of the game, the story behind it, and the impact of it too. Key figures involves are telling that particular story.

GOLDENERA tells the incredible inside story of the creation and legacy of GoldenEye007, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. One of the greatest video games ever made, GoldenEye 007 was released for the Nintendo 64 in the summer of 1997 after two and a half years of gruelling hours, missed deadlines and an unwavering commitment to perfection. Developed in a farmhouse in Warwickshire by a small ragtag team of university graduates, most of whom had never worked on a game before, this iconic first-person shooter surpassed all expectations and went on to change gaming forever. Told through interviews with the very people who created the revolutionary game, along with leading game journalists and industry professionals, GOLDENERA captures an unmissable moment in the history of gaming.

 

Drew Roller has directed the film, and it’s available on digital video on demand from June 27th.
