The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes has added cast members, who will portray the tributes and mentors in the new Hunger Games film. The prequel to The Hunger Games franchise is coming together, as filming is set to commence soon. As previously reportedWest Side Story’s Rachel Zegler is headlining the prequel as Lucy Gray Baird alongside Tom Blyth as the younger version of Donald Sutherland’s Coriolanus Snow, we now have a whole host of new cast members. As such we get Jerome Lance as Marcus, Knox Gibson as Bobbin and Mackenzie Lansing as Coral. They make up the group of new tributes, while the mentors are Ashley Liao as Clemensia and Aamer Husain as Felix. It’s no surprise Lionsgate is pressing on with the prequel, as The Hunger Games franchise grossed over $3 billion worldwide. The plot will follow Blyth’s Coriolanus Snow’s rise to power, as he manipulates Zegler’s impoverished tribute Lucy Gray after she begins stealing attention by singing at the tribute ceremony. With the 10th annual Hunger Games tournament fast approaching, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake. Based on the novel by Suzanne Collins, the film is directed by franchise veteran Francis Lawrence and written by Michael Lesslie and Michael Arndt. It is due to be released on the 17th November 2023.
