Sony has given us our first look at Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical – including an introduction to Emma Thompson’s Mrs Trunchbull.
Good news for Roald Dahl and musical fans everywhere. Sony Pictures Releasing has put out the first trailer for Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical. And it looks like a blast.
It’s only a short teaser, yet it gives you a good look at the gates and courtyard of Crunchem Hall, the strict school under the leadership of Emma Thompson’s Mrs Trunchbull. Speaking of, the small amount we see of Thompson in the role gives a good idea of how absolutely terrifying she’s going to be. She goes so far as flinging a child into the distance. It’s all very dramatic.
The trailer is also packed with childlike mischief, and hints at some of the musical numbers we’ll get to enjoy.
Alisha Weir stars as the titular Matilda, and we also get a glimpse at Lashana Lynch’s Miss Honey. Also among the cast are Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough.
Take a look at the trailer –
Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical doesn’t have a concrete release date yet, but will be in cinemas ‘this Christmas’. More news on the film as we hear it.
