What the world needs right now? A Gerard Butler disaster movie – and it’s about to get one, as the trailer for Greenland arrives. In these unnerving and uncertain times, be assured that there’s one man we can count on to keep us going: Gerard Butler. His new film sees him reunite with his Angel Has Fallen director Ric Roman Waugh, and this one goes by the name of Greenland. It sounds particularly chipper, too, given that it tells the story of a family struggling for survival in the face of, er, a natural disaster. Joining Butler in the ensemble for the film as Morena Baccarin, Scott Glenn and Andrew Bachelor, and as things stand, it’s set for release in UK cinemas this August. Obviously, that may yet change, but for the minute, the release date is holding. What we also have, then, is the first trailer for the movie.  Feast your eyes on this one… The official synopsis for the film reads as follows…  John Garrity (Gerard Butler), his estranged wife Allison (Morena Baccarin), and young son Nathan make a perilous journey to their only hope for sanctuary.  Amid terrifying news accounts of cities around the world being levelled by the comet’s fragments, the Garritys experience the best and worst in humanity while they battle the increasing panic and lawlessness surrounding them.  As the countdown to global apocalypse approaches zero, their incredible trek culminates in a desperate and last-minute flight to a possible safe haven. And the film will be in cinemas this coming August… — Thank you for visiting! If you’d like to support our attempts to make a non-clickbaity movie website: Follow Film Stories on Twitter here, and on Facebook here.
