Kirsten Stewart, Mackenzie Davie and Dan Levy all feature in the ensemble for a Christmas romance: meet Happiest Season.

I feel I should preface the lead up to this particular trailer with some note about 2020 has been a bit of a year, wouldn’t it be nice if we had an upbeat Christmas film to talk about?

Well, it has, and it would be. And now we have Happiest Season.

Starring Kristen Stewart, Mackenzie Davis, Alison Brie, Victor Garber, Aubrey Plaza and Dan Levy – how’s that for a cast? – the movie is directed by Clea DuVall, who wrote the script along with Mary Holland.

The plot? Glad you asked. It follows Abby, who finds out that her girlfriend’s family are in the dark about their relationship. Which is set to make Christmas really rather interesting.

The film is going to HBO Max in the US, but here in the UK the rights have been picked up by Entertainment One. As such, it’ll be available on assorted digital services to purchase from November 26th over here, in lieu of a cinema release. It’s been listed as premium video on demand, although we don’t have pricing yet.

Take a look at this one. It looks joyful…

We’ll leave you with the full synopsis…

Meeting your girlfriend’s family for the first time can be tough. Planning to propose at her family’s annual Christmas dinner — until you realize that they don’t even know she’s gay — is even harder. When Abby (Kristen Stewart) learns that Harper (Mackenzie Davis) has kept their relationship a secret from her family, she begins to question the girlfriend she thought she knew. Happiest Season is a holiday romantic comedy that hilariously captures the range of emotions tied to wanting your family’s acceptance, being true to yourself, and trying not to ruin Christmas.
