Home cinema hardware bible Home Cinema Choice is closing, itā€™s been revealed, with its 365th issue. More on the story here.

Here’s some really rubbish news: the terrific Home Cinema Choice magazine, that’s been running since 1995, has just published its last issue. The news was revealed by its founder and editor on Twitter overnight, and in his own words…

I’m one of a legion of people who’s bought and relied on the words of Home Cinema Choice over the years. In an era where, particularly when it comes to hardware, people are far more content to rank things than actually test them, Home Cinema Choice has remained an outlier. May founded the magazine, and at the very least it seems fitting that he should be the one to send the final – and 365th(!) issue – to print.

In a tough time for publishing (and heck, that’s no understatement), it remains a doubly impressive achievement to launch and keep a magazine going for nearly 30 years. But it’s incredibly, incredibly sad to see such a strong magazine go, and – appreciating it’s not much – we wish Steve and his team of experts the very, very best in their future endeavours.

The final issue of Home Cinema Choice magazine is on sale later this week.

Two things, and appreciating there’s a vested interest here. If there are magazines and websites you like, please support them. I’m in the middle of writing an opus about the damage Google changes are doing to the latter, but more than ever, every click and purchase really counts.

Secondly, if you want to hire or find out more about Steve May, then it seems fitting this piece ends with a link to his website, right here.

Thanks to the Home Cinema Choice team over the years. And magazines forever.
