Glen Powell is going from The Running Man to sci-fi erotic thriller Homewreckers – assuming Hollywood picks up the tab.
Busy man is Glen Powell, and can’t help wondering if he’s been watching the bit in Demolition Man when Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bullock sit opposite each and, well, ‘engage’ with one another. For Powell is now linked with Homewreckers, an upcoming movie that’s described as an erotic thriller, albeit with a science fiction twist to it.
Surely that’s Demolition Man, right?
In this case, Powell is set to star in and produce the movie, which is going by the name of Homewreckers. It’s based on the novella of the same name, that’s been penned by Neil Paik. Paik is also set to write the adaptation for the film version.
There’s currently no director that I can find attached to Homewreckers, and the script is currently making the rounds of Hollywood studios to see which will stump up the money to make the film. It should find takers too, with Glen Powell’s involvement pretty much guaranteed. He just needs to finish up making The Running Man with Edgar Wright first, which is due out in November of 2025.
Several studios are believed to be in the running for the movie. The Hollywood Reporter suggests that Warner Bros, New Regency, Lionsgate, Legendary Pictures and Sony ae expressing interest in taking the film on. Given the fact that Glen Powell is a movie star who people actually seem inclined to get off their backside to watch, that’s perhaps unsurprising.
The deal for Homewreckers is expected to be sealed this side of Christmas, so it shouldn’t take long to work out where on the calendar it’s all going to fit in.
UPDATE: Looks like job done. Legendary Entertainment is widely reported to be closing a deal for the movie. More on that here.
