Josh Gad is set to star in the take on Honey I Shrunk The Kids.

The last we heard of director Joe Johnston, he was attached to make the reboot of the Narnia cinematic series, and was all set to tackle The Silver Chair. However, clearly there are stumbles there, as he’s now signed up to do a different film. In this case, the reboot of his directorial debut, Honey I Shrunk The Kids.

News of the new film landed earlier this year, with Josh Gad the catalyst for the project. He took the idea to Disney, and is set to star in the movie. And after looking around a few different directors, the studio decided to go back to Johnston for the film.

Gad will play the grown-up son of Rick Moranis’ character from the original movie, and he’s now expected to formally sign on the dotted line to star. What isn’t so clear is where Disney will debut the film. Originally the idea was for it to go to the Disney+ streaming service, but the latest report suggests that a script from Todd Rosenberg has been deemed worthy of pushing towards a cinema release.

More on the project as we hear it.
