Huntington, a ‘raucous revenge thriller’ will star Glen Powell, Margaret Qualley and Ed Harris, and will be directed by Emily The Criminal's John Patton Ford.
Here’s a fun announcement to lighten up your Thursday morning. A24 and StudioCanal have unveiled a new project that is set to release at an unspecified point in the future. The film is called Huntington and is being described as a “raucous revenge thriller” about the heir to a multi-billion-dollar fortune who will stop at nothing to get what he deserves. An early summer shoot is being planned for the film.
The core cast for this one looks promising. Glen Powell continues to attract interest in every project he selects: this summer will see him appear in cinemas in the blockbuster sequel, Twisters, as well as starring in Richard Linklater’s Hit Man on Netflix. Margaret Qualley of Drive-Away Dolls will also star, as will Ed Harris who also appears in the soon-to-release Love Lies Bleeding, also for A24.
If that wasn’t already enough to get you revved up, the film will be directed by John Patton Ford, the filmmaker behind 2022’s terrific crime drama, Emily The Criminal. Despite being made on a $2m budget, the Aubrey Plaza-starring drama was a tense thriller with plenty to say about the evils of capitalism. It’s well worth tracking down and watching (it’s currently on Netflix in the UK, so you won’t have to track too far).
We’ve been told to expect ‘witty and zingy banter’ in Huntington, according to Deadline, but what we don’t currently have is a release date. Still, everything else is intriguing, isn’t it? Whilst we have plenty of questions, the first one that springs to mind is whether Powell will be getting to this project before The Running Man, his upcoming collaboration with Edgar Wright on the dystopian drama based on Stephen King’s novel. We’re thinking yes, probably, but when we find out for sure, we’ll let you know.
