Pixarās latest film arrives in June but you catch the trailer for it right here. Hereās how Inside Out 2 is looking.
Pixar has gone with a pretty straightforward title for its upcoming summer release Inside Out 2 and you know what? Thatās just fine with us.
After a turbulent couple of years where Pixar saw its prestigious output stacked straight onto Disneyās streaming platform, not to mention coming in for some flak when last yearās Elemental was preemptively labelled as a flop, we just want to enjoy the beloved animation house do their thing without any fuss or fanfare. Sticking a good-old fashioned number on the end of a good old-fashioned sequel might be considered a classic example of doing just that.
The film follows in the footsteps of 2015ās Inside Out. That film won awards and made a lot of money for Pixar Animation Studios, but it also got young people to think and talk about the complexity of feelings, helping them to understand themselves just a bit more and as such, is considered a great success, even by Pixarās high standards.
Hereās the synopsis for the upcoming follow-up.
The new film āreturns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.ā
The film releases this summer, capping what we hope will be something of a resurgence for Pixar, which found itself battling an usual amount of negative press last year in the wake of Elementalās slow but steady box office umbers. Still, this year has seen the studioās pandemic-era films finally get cinema releases (Luca is next, later this month) whilst further down the road, Elio is set for 2025, thereās another Toy Story the pipeline and we recently heard that the studio is working on its first musical (featuring ducks)!
Inside Out opens in cinemas everywhere on June 14th. Hereās the full trailer below.
