House Of Gucci star Jared Leto is in line to play Skeletor in the He-Man movie, Masters Of The Universe. More info on the casting rumour here.
Just last week we learned that Alison Brie would be playing the diabolical Evil-Lyn in Amazon Studios and Mattel Films’ planned Masters Of The Universe movie. Naturally, that got us wondering who would be playing the role of Skeletor, one of the greatest fictional gifs of all time.
Well, we didn’t have to wait long for an answer, should this report from The Insneider prove to be correct.
According to the outlet, Jared Leto has been offered the role and will be joining a cast that also includes Brie, Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man and Camila Mendes as royal guard captain Teela.
Jared Leto is currently working as the lead in the upcoming TRON: Ares but has put in some work doing villlainous turns in recent years. Blade Runner 2049 saw him play a pretty reprehensible corporation head, while he also put in an infamous turn as the Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad.
There’s no word yet as to whether Leto has accepted the role, or if he’s planning to go full method by sending his castmates gross packages as he once claimed he did during the Suicide Squad production. It’s all part of his process, you see.
On our sliding scale, Skeletor is more villainous that the Joker so we wouldn’t like to be one of Leto’s castmates for the upcoming production, should he once again decide to erm, ’embody’ the role.
Travis Knight directs the film that centers on Price Adam of Eternia who, thanks to his Power Sword, turns into He-Man and is embued with superhuman strength and abilities. He uses those abilities to defend his native planet and Castle Grayskull. The film is set for release in 2026.
Should the report prove to be accurate (the recent Insneider report on the apparent Spider-Verse delay has been publicly challenged), key casting is now in place and we can settle in and look forward to finding out which weird and wonderful characters from the Masters Of The Universe toy line will be joining Leto and his fellow cast members.
