The action thriller Carry On will follow a Christmas Day terrorist plot and won’t have bawdy gags in it: we have the first details.

Sadly, it seems that this isn’t a film in which Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton take on the roles of Sid James and Kenneth Williams for a new iteration of the innuendo laden Carry On franchise. Still, on we go.

Carry On will follow Ethan Kopek, a young TSA agent who gets blackmailed by a mysterious traveller to let a dangerous package slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight. Bateman is set to play the mysterious traveller.

Jaume Collet-Serra, currently riding high on a string of hits from The Shallows to Jungle Cruise and the upcoming Black Adam, will direct from a screenplay by TJ Fixman, which has recently been rewritten by Michael Green, with whom Collet-Serra worked on Jungle Cruise.

It marks the first film in the deal Netflix made with Steven Spielberg’s production company Amblin in June 2021.

It is set to begin production soon, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
