Lynne Ramsay and Joaquin Phoenix will collaborate once more for the planned drama Polaris: more details here.

Lynne Ramsay may not be the most prolific of directors, but with films like Ratcatcher, We Need to Talk About Kevin and You Were Never Really Here on her CV, she can be forgiven for taking her time to develop ther films. She barely puts a foot wrong. Now, it is being reported that the Scottish director is planning to reunite with Joaquin Phoenix, following their impressive collaboration on You Were Never Really Here.

Phoenix is a particularly busy man of late. Currently, he’s shooting Avi Aster’s latest film, Disappointment Boulevard, whilst also planning to work next with Ridley Scott on Kitbag, the director’s take on Napoleon. Also announced is that Rooney Mara will also feature in the upcoming Polaris.

Ramsay, who is reportedly developing two other literary adaptations including a Stephen King project, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, and Margaret Atwood’s Stone Mattress,  had this to say about the casting: “He’s crazy, but he’s the best actor I’ve ever met. Everything he does on the set has a reason. It’s much more difficult when you come up with an original idea like this, but it’s impossible not to get excited when you’re preparing a movie with Joaquin.”
