The legendary composer John Williams played the first music from the upcoming Indiana Jones 5: you can hear a snippet here. John Williams may have turned 90 this year but the iconic composer hasn’t lost a step. As well as recently talking up his chances of doing a 007 score, Williams delighted fans at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend by debuting a first listen of Helena’s Theme from Indiana Jones 5 which is set to release next summer. The response within the auditorium and on social media has been delirious with praise for both the composer and the theme, which you can catch below. Williams would even talk a little about the character of Helena, set to be played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, saying, “she’s an adventuress, and she’s also a femme fatale”. “She’s many, many things. She has lyrical music like an old movie star, which she looks like except she’s young and beautiful and wonderful.” Williams also revealed that premiering the score was director James Mangold’s idea, sharing that “[I was] having a chat with our wonderful director, Jim Mangold, who’s the most fantastic man, and last week as we recorded the music, Jim said ‘why don’t you play it at the Bowl next week?’. I said ‘well Jim, the picture’s not coming out until next year.’ ‘That doesn’t matter! Play it at the Bowl!’ So here is Phoebe’s theme.” It’s a lovely piece of music and a lovely story to boot and we can’t wait to hear what other musical delights Williams has cooked up for us in the next Indiana Jones adventure. The yet-to-be-titled Indiana Jones 5 is set to release on June 30th, 2023. — Thank you for visiting! If you’d like to support our attempts to make a non-clickbaity movie website: Follow Film Stories on Twitter here, and on Facebook here.
