Josh Gad will be part of the team trying to save the Earth from a collision with the moon in Roland Emmerich’s next movie, Moonfall. After the modest success of Midway last year, Lionsgate soon signed director Roland Emmerich’s next project up as well, and this is one that sees him return to the world of big science fiction disaster movies. It’s called Moonfall, and has been written by Spenser Cohen, Harald Kloser and Emmerich himself. And this one tells the story of the moon being knocked out of its orbit by something or other, and then slowly finding itself on a collision path with the Earth. Before you can say Armageddon, and with just weeks to go before the planet is doomed, humankind scrambles together a team of people to land on the moon and try and alter its course. Crikey. What’s more, casting for the movie is now underway too, and the first of those brave folk willing to try and save us all has been revealed. And that man is Josh Gad, who will take on the role of K C Houseman, described as someone incredibly intelligent and incredibly disorganised. The plan is to shoot the film – if all does indeed go to plan – starting this autumn. As we hear more, we’ll let you know.
