Kristen Stewart, Josh O’Connor and Elle Fanning will star in Rosebushpruning, and details of the movie have come to light.
Firebrand is the debut English language feature from Brazillian director Karim Aïnouz. The film, a historical drama about Henry VIII’s sixth wife Catherine Parr starring Jude Law and Alicia Vikander, had its world premiere this month, with Amazon Prime expected to distribute the film in the UK, though no date has currently been announced.
Details have now been released about Aïnouz’s next film. Rosebushpruning is a modern update of Marco Bellocchio’s 1965 debut feature Fists In The Pocket, a dark satire of family and social values which is considered a landmark slice of Italian cinema.
Kristen Stewart, Josh O’Connor and Elle Fanning will headline the film.
Aïnouz will direct from a screenplay adapted by Dogtooth writer Efthimis Filippou.
Rosebushpruning is set to start production in spring 2024.
