A corrected version of Krull is heading to Blu-ray via HMV.

Kids today, eh? They expect top notch special effects, huge budgets, and for computer graphics to topple good ideas, ingenuity, and trying to make a fantasy epic in Britain on a tight budget.

But for a generation of 80s kids, we had the adventure that is Krull. Directed by peter Yates and starring Kenneth Marshall and Lysette Anthony, this 1983 movie followed a prince and his chums having to rescue a princess from a bunch of alien invaders. And whilst the saving the princess plot device has certainly dated, the rest of the film will surely look as fine as it did the day it landed in cinemas. Glave and all.

I really enjoyed Krull in my youth if you can’t tell, and now comes the news that it’s getting its UK Blu-ray release this coming November. It’s HMV-exclusive and part of the excellent Premium Collection of Blu-rays. Furthermore, it’s corrected a previous release, with the movie landing this time in its proper aspect ratio of 2.35:1.

The disc is up for preorder now, with no shortage of extras to be found. It goes on sale from November 4th. If you have kids and they’re nagging you to see the next Star Wars film, just buy them a copy of this instead. They won’t mind.
