Leonardo DiCaprio is tipped to take the lead in Paul Thomas Anderson’s next project, set to shoot in February.

We’ve known for a few months that writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson is planning to get his next film underway soon, his first since 2021. Whilst the actors’ strike continues to create uncertainty – and shows little obvious sign of ending – February seems to be the month that the filmmaker is targeting to start shooting.

We know that the film is being set up at Warner Bros and is slated to shoot in California. Early casting rumours in the mix included Joaquin Phoenix, Viggo Mortensen, Rachael Taylor  and Regina Hall.

However, World of Reel is now suggesting that none other than Leonardo DiCaprio – pictured here in The Wolf Of Wall Street – is currently set to star in the film, which remains untitled as yet (don’t expect a name for the film for a little while yet). The pairing of Anderson and DiCaprio is certainly an enticing proposition, especially given the calibre of some of the other talent also rumoured to be involved. DiCaprio doesn’t just tend to bring his acting prowess to his roles, he’s also a keen collaborator on scripts, as directors such as Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese have told.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s last film was 2021’s Licorice Pizza whilst DiCaprio will next be seen in Martin Scorsese’s highly-anticipated Killers Of The Flower Moon which releases in UK cinemas at the end of this week.

Little is likely be publicly confirmed until the strike ends, but as soon as we hear anything concrete regarding a collaboration between the pair of celebrated creatives you can be sure we’ll let you know.
