George Clooney returns to the director’s chair with The Boys In The Boat, and the first trailer for the film has landed.

George Clooney has proved to be a prolific director since he made his debut behind the camera with Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind back in 2002. From Good Night, And Good Luck to Leatherheads and Suburbicon, he never shies away from left field scripts. And what’s more, he’s got another project that’s on the verge of release.

He has reteamed with The Midnight Sky writer Mark L. Smith for The Boys In The Boat, a drama based on a true story.

The synopsis for the film reads as follows:

The Boys In The Boat is about the 1936 University of Washington rowing team that competed for gold at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. This inspirational true story follows a group of underdogs at the height of the Great Depression as they are thrust into the spotlight and take on elite rivals from around the world.

The Boys In The Boat will be released in UK cinemas on the 12th January 2024. This is an MGM-backed production, thus with Amazon money behind it. It’s also therefore party to the deal that Amazon struck with Warner Bros to give its films a theatrical release in the UK. It’s Warner Bros handling the cinema run over here, and we saw with Air previously that it’ll give it a bit of a push too. Good good.

Anyway, back to The Boys In The Boat. Here’s that brand new trailer, that’s just landed…
