Superman, Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV are becoming slightly more affordable on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray: more here.

Last year, Warner Bros released a boxset of all four Christopher Reeve-headlined Superman movies, and not for the first time. What was new though was that this set brought three of the movies to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for the first time, and thus those who’d craved a high-def overhaul of Superman IV: The Quest For Peace could finally stop refreshing Amazon.

The set though – which included Superman, Superman II (both cuts), the wonderful Superman III (huge fan of that film) and the aforementioned Superman IV: The Quest For Peace – was only available in a posh Steelbook collection. As such, the price was north of £100 when it was released in the spring of 2023, and that’s proven to be a bit rich for many of us.

Itā€™s taken a while, but now Warner Bros has added a standard release to its roster, and it’s arriving in a few week’s time. This time, you get the four film collection, without the Steelbook packaging and the paraphernalia that was included within it. But you get the remastered movies, with extra features included as well.

The set is earmarked for fresh release on 30th September 2024. You can find more information on it, and order yourself a copy, right here.

The asking price is still £80, but that’s down from around £130 that Warner Bros wanted for the Steelbook collection. It also comes ahead of the theatrical release of a documentary about the much-missed Christopher Reeve, entitled Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. You can read more about that here.

Warner Bros hasn’t confirmed any plans to release the films individually in the future on 4K disc, with the latter three movies only available on UHD as part of this collection thus far.
