Liam Neeson’s latest action-packed offering has a high-octane plot that you may just be familiar with: meet Retribution.
Liam Neeson is back with another explosive movie to add to his oeuvre, this time featuring a plot that we reckon you’re so familiar with, you’d even ace a pop-quiz on it (hotshot).
Retribution sees Neeson, ‘who is driving with his kids when he learns from a mysterious caller that the car contains a bomb that will detonate if anyone exits the vehicle, leading to a high-speed chase throughout the city.’
The film is actually a remake of a 2015 Spanish film of the same name, but also roots itself in the same simple but absorbing concept as 1994’s Speed. Lionsgate is backing the picture with Nimród Antal directing. Antal is behind some fun action flicks such as Machete and Predators so we’re curious to see how his collaboration with Neeson turns out.
As for Neeson, he’s gradually moving away from the kind of full-on action roles that have shaped his career since 2008’s Taken. He featured in Marlowe last, taking on the role of the famed literary private detective, has already made a beeline for danger driving in 2021’s The Ice Road and is set to move into comedy with The Naked Gun remake, if that ever happens. You can catch the trailer for Retribution below ahead of its August release. It’s coming to the UK via Sky Cinema.

Days after reports emerged about terminal problems with Saw XI, the horror sequel has been pulled from its September release slot.

Heist thriller sequel Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera, starring Gerard Butler, is out in January. Here's a new trailer:
Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera clearly means business. Why else would its title so confidently stride into the world of colon and incomprehensible word combinations unless it wanted to throw down with the likes of John Wick; [...]
