Ruben Fleischer has directed Now You See Me 3, and he’s now set to direct Now You See Me 4 as well. More on the story here.

It’s taken a long, long time for Lionsgate to get the Now You See Me franchise back up and running. Turns out that for a long time, getting a fresh caper for a bunch of magicians moving is as hard as getting a new Blade movie made.

However, progress. As it turns out, lots of progress.

This November, we get Now You See Me 3, which is now going by the name of – finally! – Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. It reunites Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco and Morgan Freeman. Newcomers this time are Rosamund Pike and Ariana Greenblatt.

Furthermore, Lionsgate isn’t messing around, and has now confirmed that Now You See Me 4 is in the works. The news was broken at the CinemaCon convention that’s currently taking place in the US, where Lionsgate movie boss Adam Fogelson declared how happy the studio is with the director’s cut of the third film. Hence, a fourth.

Ruben Fleischer has joined the franchise to direct Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, and is already confirmed as well for Now You See Me 4. At this stage, the film is said to be in development, and there’s the small matter of waiting to see if a decade-long gap will be a stumbling block to audiences returning for the new film.

Still, given how long it took the studio to uncork the Now You See Me blockage, it’s understandable that it’ll want to not mess around again. Assuming film three is a hit, then film four will be ready to go an awful lot quicker. At least that appears to be the working place.

More news on the Now You See Me films as we hear it. Still looking for someone to explain just how they pull off what they do in the last 20 minutes of the second movie, though.
