Baby Driver star Lily James becomes the latest exciting name to boost the profile of this interesting pro-wrestling biopic.
The Iron Claw is a project that’s firmly on our radar. We have high hopes for director Sean Durkin’s follow up to The Nest, an enjoyable drama which showcased the Durkin’s aptitude for effective character study and The Iron Claw will almost certainly allow Durkin to flex those muscles once more, being a ‘gritty and transformative’ wrestling drama that follows the Von Erichs, a legendary family in the pro-wrestling world who have been beset by tragedy.
Maura Tierney, who has appeared in films such as The Report and Beautiful Boy, has recently been announced as playing the family’s matriarch, whilst as previously reported, the film will star Zac Efron. Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallany and Jeremy Allen White have all been announced as appearing too.
The cast for this one just keeps getting better though, with the news that Lily James is set to join the ensemble. James is coming off the back of the incredibly successful series Pam & Tommy and although her role in this project remains unknown, it’s another exciting addition to the ensemble.
A24 is backing the project, along with Access Entertainment, and BBC Films. We’re keeping our hopes up for The Iron Claw as it really could be one to watch. We’ll bring you more on the production as we hear it.
