Luther: The Fallen Sun will land on Netflix in March 2023, and we now have an official synopsis for the film
The title of the long anticipated Luther film has been revealed as Luther: The Fallen Sun. And along with that has come the first official synopsis, which reads as follows…
A gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary.
You can also see some first look images from the film over at Deadline.
Idris Elba, of course, returns as the troubled titular detective, with Dermot Crowley also reprising his role as DCI Martin Schenk.
New additions to the cast include Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis and martial artist Jess Liaudin. It is currently unknown whether Ruth Wilson will reprise her role as fan favourite character Alice Morgan, especially given the ending of the fifth series.
Series creator Neil Cross has penned the script for the film, with director Jamie Payne, who helmed series 5 of the drama, behind the camera.
Luther: The Fallen Sun will be released on Netflix in March 2023, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
