Two celebrated actors and a revered director, an original script by the mind behind 2022’s The Menu? It’s A Big Bold Beautiful Journey…

Here’s another welcome project that you can add to your list of films to be excited about: Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell are teaming up with Koganda to make A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, an ‘imaginative tale of two strangers and the unbelievable journey that connects them.’

The creative team behind this one is pretty exciting. According to Deadline, the script has been written by Seth Reiss, the scribe who penned the screenplay for 2022’s The Menu, a dark and biting drama that was one of that year’s surprising delights. Equally promising is the news that A Beautiful Journey will be helmed by Kogonada, the director of After Yang, the acclaimed drama which premiered at Sundance in 2022.

After Yang also starred Colin Farrell, and it seems that he and Yogonada are set to reprise their creative partnership with Margot Robbie also coming onboard the project. Robbie is coming off the back of a hugely successful 2023 in which she produced and starred in Barbie, the highest-grossing film of the year. Both Farrell and Robbie seem to have developed the knack for exercising excellent taste when it comes to choosing projects over the last few years, so there’s high hopes for this one, even if we don’t know too much about it at this stage.

One final mark of prestige to throw into the mix is the involvement of Imperative Entertainment, the company backing the project. Imperative have been behind recent prestige projects as Killers Of The Flower Moon, the Emmy-nominated Black Bird; and the Palme d’Or-winning film Triangle Of Sadness. That’s quite the list, and only adds to the sense that if everything comes together as it could, we could have a real treat on our hands.

The film is set to shoot this spring in California but beyond that, we know nothing else at this stage. When we do hear more, rest assured that you can read about it here.
