Will VisionQuest be required viewing before Avengers: Doomsday? We’ll find out in October when it premieres on Disney+.

This article includes spoilers for the finale of WandaVision, but there is another spoiler warning before those.

It feels like Marvel fans have been waiting for VisionQuest, the third entry in the unofficial TV trilogy that started with WandaVision, for a small eternity, but there’s finally hope in our future.

Disney has announced that VisionQuest is set to hit Disney+ on 14th October. The series will consist of eight episodes in total and is expected to be set after the events of WandaVision and focus on Vision trying to get his memories and his humanity back after the events of WandaVision and Avengers: Infinity War.

The series’ cast includes Paul Bettany returning as Vision, James Spader as Ultron from Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff and more.

As Deadline notes, Disney also showed a trailer of the series but it hasn’t made its way online at the time of writing this. The trailer showed how it connects to WandaVision and the second part in this trilogy, Agatha All Along, but not many plot details have been reported from it.

Here come slight spoilers if you’re unfamiliar with the ending of WandaVision. At the end of the series, Wanda finally embraced her identity as the Scarlet Witch and let go of the fantasy of Westview. That also meant that her newly created version of Vision also disappeared, but S.W.O.R.D.’s reassembled, much paler Vision, dubbed White Vision, got away and we’ll catch up with it in the new series.

VisionQuest is also the final MCU entry before Avengers: Doomsday hits cinemas and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom starts wreaking havoc in the MCU. Bettany isn’t listed as one of the cast for Doomsday, but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Vision pop up in the year’s big comic book movie event. The actor did hint last year that he might be appearing in an Avengers movie. This would naturally make VisionQuest another piece of homework for those hoping to keep up with all of Marvel’s antics.

As we know, Doomsday is boldly going up against Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Part Three and the joyous day has been globally dubbed Dunesday. After both Thunderbolts* and Fantastic Four: The First Steps underperformed at the box office, Marvel is looking for Doomsday to raise it back to its former glory.
