Mel Gibson will step behind the camera for the first time in seven years to direct Flight Risk, and details of the movie have landed.
Mel Gibsonās last film as director was 2016ās
Hacksaw Ridge, which was nominated for six Oscars, winning two (for editing and sound mixing, respectively). And now heās decided his next directorial outing, a film by the name of
Flight Risk.
It seems this project is going into production ahead of several currently on Gibsonās slate, including
The Passion Of The Christ: Resurrection, which was slated to begin production in the summer with Jim Caviezel reprising the title role, and the long awaited
Lethal Weapon 5, which currently has Richard Wenk attached as the screenwriter.
Flight Risk will star Mark Wahlberg as a āpilot transporting a dangerous criminal for trial.ā. Jared Rosenbergās screenplay was on the 2020 Blacklist, the industryās list of the best unproduced screenplays.
It marks the third collaboration between Gibson and Wahlberg after starring together in
Daddyās Home 2 and
Father Stu.
Weāll keep you updated as we hear more.
