In 2020’s latest twist, a brief tease for a new Die Hard project over the weekend turns out to be Bruce Willis now selling car batteries to us.
Hmmmm. Before Disney bought up 20th Century Fox, one of the projects on the latter’s slate had been Die Hard: Year One, a movie that would have told the backstory of Bruce Willis’ John McClane, whilst also being part set in the present day.

Willis was up for it, Die Hard 4.0 director Len Wiseman was due to come back to direct. Yet it’s believe the project died as part of the ultimate corporate takeover that ensued.
Over the weekend though, Rumer Willis teased on her social media feed the return of Die Hard, with an image of her father seemingly back in arguably his most-loved role.
But it’s a case of stand down. What the actual tease is for is for a car battery advert. It brings back De’voreaux White as Argyle from the original film too, and whilst I can’t speak for you, the whole thing makes me feel a little sad. I wish Willis cared about the Die Hard films as much as many of us do. That said, this whole thing remains an upgrade on the venture that masquerading as the fifth Die Hard movie.
I guess the ad campaign has worked, because this is the first time I’ve put an advert for car batteries on the website. But also, as they’ve not paid us, might I suggest that other more economical car batteries are easily available…
