Get a more expansive look at the Mushroom Kingdom in the full trailer for The Super Mario Bros Movie ahead of its April release.

The second trailer has arrived for Nintendo and Illumination’s co-production, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Knew you’d be pleased.

Whilst the animated video game adaptation has managed to avoid criticism, the likes of which the first Sonic The Hedgehog movie memorably suffered on its path to release, The Super Mario Bros. Movie hasn’t been exactly smooth. The project first faced some pretty vocal resistance to the voice casting of Chris Pratt as Mario, before then being delayed, with the film being pushed back from its original release date of Christmas 2022 to April 7th 2023.

The first trailer did much to dispel some of the negativity surrounding the project, revealing a lush and vibrant animation style and an adorable tone that felt just right. Now the second trailer expands the world of the Mushroom Kingdom and introduces characters like Donkey Kong and Princess Peach.

Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic direct from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel and the cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
