The in-demand director Nikyatu Jusu will helm a modern bloodsucker film along with a Night Of The Living Dead sequel. Nikyatu Jusu is a filmmaker in demand. Not only did her upcoming film Nanny win the Sundance Grand Jury Prize earlier this year, but she was also announced last month as the director of a new film in the legendary Night Of The Living Dead series for Village Roadshow Pictures. It has now been revealed that Jordan Peeleā€™s Monkeypaw Productions has swooped in to secure Jusuā€™s talents for another project, adapting Jusuā€™s own 2019 vampire short Suicide By Sunlight into a feature-length film. ā€œMy project with Monkeypaw is an expansion of a short film I made called Suicide By Sunlight,ā€ Jusu told Deadline, ā€œabout day-walking Black vampires who are protected from the sun by their melanin.ā€ The original short film was set ā€˜in a near-future New York Cityā€™ and tells the story of Valentina, who ā€œis forced to suppress her bloodlust to regain custody of her estranged daughters.ā€™ Itā€™s not yet known whether the feature film adaptation will develop the same plot or simply keep the core concept but if your interest is piqued, you can watch Jusuā€™s original short on Vimeo right here. As for Nanny, you can catch the highly-anticipated thriller when it gets a limited release on this Friday in cinemas before hitting Amazon Prime Video in mid-December. ā€” Thank you for visiting! If youā€™d like to support our attempts to make a non-clickbaity movie website: Follow Film Stories on Twitter here, and on Facebook here.
