A treat from the vaults of Laika is coming back to the big screen in the UK: it’s a re-release of the lovely animated film, ParaNorman.

One of the finest films of the wonderful animation studio Laika? Well, there’s a case that ParaNorman is up there. Directed by Sam Fell and Chris Butler, it’s a delight of a film that followed a young boy who was able to communicate with the dead. A really heartfelt and tremendously realised visual treat follows.

The film was first released in 2012, and found itself in unlikely competition of sorts with Tim Burton’s also-excellent Frankenweenie. You wait for one animated film about someone trying to deal with the dead to come along, and what do you know.

Anyway: the film still did decent business, and its reputation has grown over time. And if you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing it on the big screen, then some very welcome news: Park Circus will be giving the movie a UK re-release this October. It’s due back in cinemas on Friday 28th October, and should be getting a reasonably wide rollout too.

Now: more from Laika please. And let’s get Coraline back on the big screen too.
