United 93 and Bourne director Paul Greengrass will tackle Stephen Kingās recently-published adventure story.
Thereās a second bout of Stephen King news this morning for fans of the author and film adaptations of his work. Whilst Netflix dropped the trailer for the upcoming Mr Harriganās Phone today, it has also been announced that Paul Greengrass, the greatly-admired filmmaker behind three of the Bourne films will be tackling an adaptation of Kingās recently-published The Fairy Tale.
Whilst no studio has yet backed the project, it will be shopped around imminently, according to Deadline, and itās likely that thereāll be no shortage of takers. King has reportedly done one of his famous $1 deals with Greengrass, selling the rights to his work for a negligible price but with a presumed big slice of the backend.
The story is described as āan epic tale that follows a 17-year-old boy who inherits the keys to a terrifying world where good and evil are at war. The stakes could not be higher, for that world and ours, as he journeys into the mythic roots of human storytelling.ā
As weāve alluded to in the other story on King today, some of the authorās upcoming adaptations are facing a sticky patch, but with a filmmaker of the calibre of Greengrass involved, weād like to think that The Fairy Tale will likely face fewer hurdles. Weāll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
