The first day of Propstore’s huge film and TV memorabilia auction was a success with over 450 items sold. More details below.
Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction kicked off yesterday and it’s safe to say the first day was a success.
Over 450 items of film and TV memorabilia were sold for a whopping total of $6,800,000. That’s an eye-watering amount of money, but among the items sold were some rare and pretty iconic pieces of memorabilia.
One of the biggest sellers was Chewbacca’s Bowcaster with Restored Dressing Components from the original Star Wars trilogy. The bow went for $768, 600 in the end, but it was originally estimated to go for around $500,000. People just love Chewie, I guess.
A ghost trap and pedal from Ghostbusters also fetched a respectable $327,600 while someone paid $81,900 for Michael Gambon’s robe from Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince. Suddenly our dressing gown from M&S doesn’t seem quite so fancy anymore…
“We are thrilled with the incredible success of the first day of our Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction,” Brandon Alinger, Propstore COO, said of the first day. “The auction surpassed our expectations and showcased the enduring popularity of franchises like Star Wars, Batman, and Ghostbusters, along with legendary films like Grease and cult favourite, The Evil Dead. We’re proud to have connected our global audience of fans with the historic pieces they cherish, and we look forward to the next two days of the auction.”
The auction is live until the 28th March, so if you do have some spare pocket change – a couple hundred thousand dollars or so – there is still time to bid on some iconic movie props. Over 800 items are still to be auctioned over the next two days, so if you’ve ever dreamed of owning the Deadly Virus Container from 12 Monkeys, this is your chance.
