Parasite director Bong Joon-ho’s next film will arrive in cinemas in early 2024, it has been announced.

How do you follow up a historic, not to mention wildly successful film like Parasite? The 2019 satire won the Palme d’Or and the Best Picture Oscar as well, ensuring that all eyes would squarely be on director Bong Joon-ho when he began working on his next project. That project is Mickey 17, with production currently underway on the science fiction clone drama that will star Robert Pattinson.

Warner Bros is backing the film and has released an early look at the project which you can catch below. A release date has also been announced for the production, but before you get too excited, you’ll need to demonstrate a little patience: March 2024 is the scheduled release date for Mickey 17.

The film looks set to follow Pattinson as ‘an expendable employee on an expedition to colonise an ice world who tries to stop his clone from replacing him.’

Pattinson will be joined by a fine supporting cast that includes includes Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.

Everything we know about the project so far has us very eager to see where it all leads, but with the exception of that very brief first-look teaser which you can catch below, it’s going to be a case of settling in for quite the wait until this one hits cinema screens.

Still, with one of the most imaginative filmmakers we have behind it, a very talented cast, not to mention a sizeable budget, Mickey 17 looks rather promising…
