The director of Little Monsters, Abe Forsythe, takes over the new RoboCop movie.

Following a not dissimilar path to the one taken by this year’s Terminator: Dark Fate, the upcoming RoboCop Returns is set to be a direct sequel to the original movie, discounting the sequels that followed.

The project has been in development for a while, with Neill Blomkamp (District 9) until recently set to direct. But he departed the film earlier this year due to a schedule clash with his new film, and news has been sparse since then.

Now, though, some further progress. Abe Forsythe, who helmed the recent zombie comedy Little Monsters, is the new director of the film. He’s also going to rewrite the screenplay, that had been written by Ed Neumier, Michael Miner and Justin Rhodes (the latter of whom is also credited on Dark Fate, incidentally).

We still don’t quite know when to expect the film, but as soon as we get a release date, we’ll let you know.
