The directors of the new Scream film have been in touch with Neve Campbell about returning once again to the franchise.

Slowly but surely, the next film in the Scream saga is coming together, although it’ll be the first not to be directed by the late, great Wes Craven. In his place are Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the writers and directors behind the wonderful Ready Or Not, though, and they’ve been slowly getting the new movie into place.

What’s more, it’s now been revealed that they’ve been in contact with the star of the first four films, Neve Campbell. She revealed the news to Rotten Tomatoes, explaining that she was a little bit wary of doing a Scream movie without Craven involved. But that she’s considering returning.

“We’re having conversations”, she said. TThe timing’s a bit challenging because of COVID. You know, we only started the conversation maybe a month and a half ago, so it’s going to take some time to figure out how it’s all going to work out”.

“We’re negotiating, so we’ll see”, she added.

Obviously things are a little in limbo at the moment, but hopefully when we all come through the other side of this, into whatever the new normal will be, there’ll be room out there for a new Scream film with Neve Campbell involved.

More as we hear it.
