As strikes in Hollywood continue, the ramifications have been felt all over the industry immediately, with several high profile films halting production.

When SAG-AFTRA went on strike last week, it sent a very clear message to Hollywood executives, and the consequences were immediate. Actors leaving premieres, The Haunted Mansion premiere having to  go ahead without any of its stars present, and actors not taking part in promotional activities while the strike is ongoing.

The other main consequence is that film production can no longer go ahead, at least in Hollywood. It is slightly different with co-productions that film in the UK due to union rules, like House of The Dragon – but several big budget blockbusters have halted filming indefinitely, until the strike comes to an end.

Productions halted so far include Deadpool 3, Gladiator 2, Venom 3, Lilo & Stitch, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2 and Brad Pitt and Matt Damon’s untitled F1 drama.

One area that hasn’t been affected quite so much is animation, where animators are able to work with placeholder dialogue until actors are able to record.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, studios have been anticipating the strike and scheduling accordingly, with one unnamed production making a point of filming scenes with a key actor early in production, knowing they would likely be unavailable around this time due to the strike.
