AppleTV+’s Silo has two more seasons coming, but the streamer is concluding the series after the fourth season. Read more about it below.
If you’ve been watching Silo on AppleTV+, you know it’s up there with the streamer’s best series. Based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy of books, the show isn’t short on intrigue or action and season 2 has expanded the world and upped the stakes considerably.
The good news is that there’s more Silo in our future. AppleTV+ has renewed the sci-fi series for two more seasons, allowing showrunner Graham Yost plenty of room to conclude the series. The bad news is that season 4 will definitely be the show’s last season, as reported by Deadline.
“It has been a richly rewarding experience to adapt Hugh’s epic novels with our partners at Apple and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this complete story to the screen over the course of four seasons,” Yost in a statement. “With the final two chapters of Silo, we can’t wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos.”
Silo season 2 has just aired episode 5, which marks the season’s halfway point and the season will conclude on 17th January. Silo takes place in the future where the last 10 000 humans have been forced to live in an underground silo due to toxic air. Rebecca Ferguson stars in the series as Juliette, a former Mechanical worker who begins to uncover the mysteries and long-buried secrets of not only her own silo, but the other silos, which the rest of the silo’s residents aren’t aware of.
“I’ve loved every minute of bringing Juliette to the screen and I am immensely proud of what we’ve all created with Silo since the first episode,” Ferguson said in a statement. “I have always felt passionately about telling the entire story contained within Hugh Howey’s books, so I couldn’t be happier that audiences around the world have enthusiastically embraced the show. Alongside our partners at Apple, Graham, and the entire cast and crew, I cannot wait to dive into these final two thought-provoking seasons that will beautifully conclude this dystopian tale.”
Silo is adapting a similar approach as Netflix’s Squid Game, planning a definitive ending to the show with future seasons. Squid Game season 2 is set to be released on 26th December on Netflix with the final season following some time in 2025. Such a plan stops a series from overstaying its welcome with dragged out narratives and allows the creators to create a comprehensive story arc. So, hopefully, this is a win-win situation for everyone and both Silo and Squid Game have satisfying endings.
