The (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb is taking on Skydance’s latest big-budget action foray, Bermuda.

Skydance has had the film Bermuda in development for some time now, and while we don’t know too much about the project, it will be an expansive action adventure film in the mould of previous pictures by the production outfit behind Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Just with less Tom Cruise, we’re wagering.

Despite the project having been in the works for a while, Deadline is reporting that the current version of the film does not have much of a script and with the WGA strike ongoing, that won’t change until the long-running Hollywood labour dispute is settled. However, a key detail has emerged and that’s the appointment of Marc Webb as director.

Webb made his name with the wonderful indie comedy, (500) Days of Summer before breaking into the blockbuster action sphere with a brace of Spider-Man films for Sony. Currently, he’s in post-production on Disney’s live action remake of Snow White, a project which has been generating lots of headlines throughout its production.

Little is known about Bermuda, apart from that ‘it will be set in the mysterious patch of the Caribbean where planes and ships have gone missing over the years.’ Webb is expected to have some input into the script but not be part of the writing team himself. We’ll bring you more on this one as we hear it but it could be a while before we hear more. We’ll keep an eye out for boats in the meantime.
