Keanu Reeves joins Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, Idris Elba and Colleen O’Shaughnessey for a new supersonic adventure. Watch the first Sonic The Hedgehog 3 trailer below.
There was a time when we all thought the first Sonic The Hedgehog film would be terrible. Those teeth from the first trailer still haunt our dreams, but after a bit of behind-the-scenes tweaking, the film eventually exceeded all our expectations.
Sonic 2 was a really solid sequel too, so our hopes for Sonic The Hedgehog 3 are sky high, but judging from the very first trailer, they are very likely to be met.
Take a look at the first Sonic The Hedgehog 3 trailer.
As confirmed earlier this year, Keanu Reeves is joining the voice cast as Shadow and the trailer teases the similarities between Sonic and Shadow. Whereas Sonic found friends and family on Earth, Shadow’s life has been about pain and suffering, rendering him somewhat angry.
Ben Schwartz returns to voice Sonic while Idris Elba and Colleen O’Shaughnessey can be heard as the voices of Knuckles and Tails. James Marsden is also back as Sonic’s human pal Tom and naturally, Jim Carrey is back as Dr. Robotnik. Krysten Ritter is also involved, but the trailer doesn’t disclose her role.
This is where we’d usually share a film’s official synopsis and put it in nice italics and everything, but the Sonic The Hedgehog 3 trailer is accompanied only by a tagline that promises “New adventure. New rival.”
The trailer positions Shadow as the main villain of the story, but could there be a secondary villain that Paramount are keeping hidden? The trailer doesn’t give us a whole lot of plot details except the trio are trying to stop Shadow, but it’s not entirely clear what Shadow is trying to achieve.
Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is set to be released in UK cinemas on 27th December.
