The four day Propstore auction is under way and the Marauder’s Map has become the most expensive prop from the Harry Potter films to sell at the auction.
The Propstore auction is currently ongoing and if you have some extra cash, you could bag yourself items from excellent films and TV shows, including Buffy The Vampire Slayer, 300, Gremlins and Aliens, just to name a few.
One of the most sought after items are props from the Harry Potter films. There are a plethora of wands and other props, including a giant chocolate frog, that buyers can bid on. After the first day of bidding, the Marauder’s Map has become the highest selling item, going for an eye-watering sum of £239,400.
It’s a lot of money, but the Map was owned by Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double David Holmes, who suffered a life-altering injury in 2009 while filming a stunt test for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The proceedings from the Map are going towards Holmes’ care and mobility equipment.
Other items sold were a screen-matched stormtrooper helmet from Star Wars: A New Hope, which went for a mind-boggling £327,600 and the Kali Lighting Stand-In Model from 1973’s The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad, which a lucky buyer bagged for £189,000. Items from Scream, Mad Max: Fury Road, Gladiator and Saving Private Ryan also found new homes.
Overall, the annual live auction fetched over £4.4 million just on its first day. The in-person auction is taking place at BAFTA Piccadilly and is live until Sunday and you can peruse the catalogue here, if you wish.
