Paramount is rushing Sonic The Hedgehog to an early digital release.
Over the weekend, Universal became the first studio to release its features early on premium video on demand. The Invisible Man, The Hunt and Emma – which had been playing in cinemas – were each made available to rent, for £15.99 apiece.
Sony’s Bloodshot now lands at the end of this week, and in the US, Disney has released Onward too. And next up with be Paramount’s hit movie, Sonic The Hedgehog.
The film had been set for home release in the US in the middle of May, but the studio will now be bringing it to video on demand on March 31st. As of yet, this date is for the US release only, but we’d expect the UK date to follow suit. As and when we get confirmation of that, we’ll let you know.
Expect more films to fast-track to home release over the coming weeks. We’ll keep you posted as we hear about them.
